My sweet baby, Itty Bit, passed away peacefully in my arms this morning with her daddy stroking her head. The doctors think it may have been some sort of cancer in her sinus system that hampered her breathing and shut down her olfactory sense causing her to stop eating. Itty was a perfect little girl through the many needle sticks, rectal temperature readings, and poking and prodding that went on, and she gained many friends and admirers. When she reached 3.2 pounds we decided that starvation was out and that a feeding tube would lower the quality of her life to an unacceptable level. She had a good 14 years with me, from birth to death, and she enriched my life immeasurably. Afterward, we took her home and let Bob see her so he would understand. Then we buried her in a lovely spot in Danna's back yard. Ours is torn up and we'll be moving soon, so this was a wonderful gift.  Danna had great, well-packed dirt and Steve labored lovingly to dig a deep whole to protect our baby from scavengers. 2012_05_24_14.10.30.jpg
